Problem

Notebooks cost \(\$5\) each, and the budget is at most \(\$40\). Let \(n\) be a nonnegative whole-number count. Write and solve the inequality, then state the greatest allowed number of notebooks.

This is a limit problem, so the wording determines the inequality direction before any algebra begins. The total cost is the price per notebook times the whole-number count, and “at most” means that total cannot exceed the budget. After dividing by the positive price, we’ll interpret the resulting bound within the nonnegative whole-number domain.
