Problem

A safe refrigerator temperature is at least \(34^{\circ}\text{F}\) and at most \(40^{\circ}\text{F}\). Express all safe temperatures in interval notation.

What this problem is really about

The temperature has to satisfy a lower bound and an upper bound at the same time. We’ll translate “at least” and “at most” as inclusive inequalities, combine them around the temperature variable, and then convert that compound inequality to interval notation. Because equality is allowed at both boundaries, the interval will use inclusive endpoint symbols.
