Create equations in two or more variables, graph them, and label axes/scales appropriately.

Solve a two-variable equation for y before graphing

Problem

Rewrite \(2x~+~y~=~9\) in the form \(y~=~mx~+~b\), then state the coefficient pair \((m,~b)\).

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

The goal is to make the equation graph-ready by isolating y without changing its solution set. We’ll remove the x-term from y’s side using the same operation on both sides, then reorder the result into y equals m x plus b. Once that form is visible, the coefficient of x and the constant give the requested pair in the stated order.
