Notebooks cost \(\$3\) each. Let \(n\) be the whole-number count of notebooks and \(C~=~3n\) be total cost in dollars. The budget is at most \(\$30\). State the reasonable domain and range of the model.

What this problem is really about

The algebraic rule alone allows many inputs, but the context narrows them to realistic notebook counts. We’ll combine the nonnegative whole-number requirement with the budget ceiling to find the allowable inputs. Then we’ll run each allowed input through the cost rule, producing a discrete output set rather than every value in a continuous interval.
