Rearrange formulas to isolate a chosen quantity and interpret the result.
Rearrange a formula by dividing to isolate the target
Problem
Rearrange \(F~=~ma\) to solve for \(a\), and state the required restriction.
Big Picture
What this problem is really about
The target variable is attached to another quantity by multiplication. We’ll treat the other symbols as known, undo that multiplication by dividing both sides by the complete factor, and simplify to leave the target alone. Because the rearrangement divides by that factor, we also have to state the condition that makes the division valid.
