Rearrange formulas to isolate a chosen quantity and interpret the result.
Rearrange a formula and state the variable restrictions that make the new equation valid
Problem
While rearranging \(r~=~d/t\) for \(t\), identify any restriction on variable values.
Big Picture
What this problem is really about
The original equation and the rearranged equation can impose restrictions at different moments. We’ll record the variable forbidden by the starting denominator before clearing it, then note the variable used as a divisor when isolating the target. Keeping those conditions attached to their respective forms prevents a valid algebraic rearrangement from silently admitting values that made either division undefined.
