What this problem is really about

A recursive geometric model describes each new term by scaling the entire previous term. We’ll record the starting cell count as the initial condition, translate the word describing the hourly change into a common ratio, and apply that factor to the preceding term for later indices. Generating two successive terms checks that the rule models repeated multiplication rather than repeated addition.
