Problem

Read this situation: A car travels \(180~\text{miles}\) in \(3~\text{hours}\) at a constant speed. Then identify the constant rate of change.

What this problem is really about

A contextual rate is a quotient whose order is determined by the requested units. We’ll place distance in the numerator and elapsed time in the denominator to create miles per hour, then reduce to a one-hour rate. Multiplying that unit rate back by the full time gives a quick consistency check.
