Construct linear and exponential functions, including arithmetic/geometric sequences, from graphs, descriptions, or input-output pairs.

Construct a linear function from two input-output pairs

Problem

Use the displayed input-output pairs to construct the linear function.

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

A pair of input-output records gives the change information for a linear function, even when neither input is zero. We’ll compute output change per unit of input, place that slope into the general linear form, and substitute one record to recover the missing intercept. Testing the second record will check that one rule fits both observations.
