Problem

For the model \(f(x)=6x+8\), solve for the input \(x\) when the output reaches the target value \(50\).

What this problem is really about

The target is an output, so finding its input means reversing the function’s operations in the opposite order. We’ll set the model equal to the target, undo the fixed addition, and then undo the multiplication to isolate the input. Substitution into the original model will verify that the recovered input produces the required output.
