Use units to guide multi-step problem solving and choose/interpret units, scales, and graph origins.

Judge whether a unit and magnitude are reasonable

Problem

Evaluate a hallway-walking model of \(600~\text{miles}~\text{per}~\text{hour}\) against the benchmark interval \(2\text{--}4~\text{miles}~\text{per}~\text{hour}\). Assess the unit fit, perform the interval comparison, and state the overall reasonableness.

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

Make two separate judgments: first ask whether the unit measures the right physical quantity, and only then compare the numerical value with the stated benchmark interval. Quantify any mismatch with a ratio to a benchmark endpoint, because a suitable unit does not by itself make a magnitude realistic.
