Compare measurements using uncertainty intervals
Problem
Measurement \(A\) is \(10.0~\text{to}~10.4~\text{cm}\); measurement \(B\) is \(10.3~\text{to}~10.7~\text{cm}\). Are the measurements meaningfully different given their accuracy?
Treat each measurement as its full uncertainty interval rather than as a single central value. A definite ordering requires one interval to end before the other begins; compare the nearest endpoints, and if they overlap, both measurements can represent some of the same true values at the given accuracy.
