Interpret differences in shape, center, spread, and outliers in context.
Identify an outlier from a display summary
Problem
Use this display summary to decide whether there are any outliers: dot plot values cluster from \(10~\text{to}~14\) with a \(\text{single}~\text{value}\) at \(30\).
A visual outlier is identified by separation from the main body of data, not merely by being the smallest or largest observation. Locate the dense cluster first, then compare any isolated point with the nearest edge of that cluster and pay attention to the empty interval between them.
