Summarize two-category data with two-way tables and interpret joint, marginal, and conditional relative frequencies.
Find row totals, column totals, and grand total
Problem
A two-way table has these \(\text{four}~\text{cell}~\text{counts}\): \(a~\text{no}~=~7\), \(a~\text{yes}~=~8\), \(b~\text{no}~=~5\), \(b~\text{yes}~=~10\). Find the row totals, column totals, and grand total.
The margins summarize the same interior counts in two directions. Add across for each row total and down for each column total, then use the agreement between the sum of the row margins and the sum of the column margins to verify the grand total.
