Problem

Evaluate the claim that group A has a higher science-preference rate than group B, given rates of \(70\%\) for A and \(35\%\) for B. Support, reject, or withhold judgment and justify the decision with the two-way-table evidence.

A “more likely” claim across groups is answered by comparing the same within-group percentage for each group. Put the two conditional rates on equal footing, compute their percentage-point gap, and let the larger rate determine whether the claim’s stated direction agrees with the table evidence.
