Interpret slope and intercept of a linear model in the data context.
Interpret the y-intercept of a fitted linear model
Problem
Interpret the \(y\)-intercept of \(S(h)=2.5h+70\) for observed study times \(1\le~h\le~6~\text{hours}\), including its relationship to the observed range.
The constant term tells what the model predicts at zero input, but a prediction can exist where no data were collected. Interpret the intercept with output units, then compare zero with the observed input interval; if it lies outside, label the value as extrapolated rather than observed or directly supported.
