Create equations in two or more variables and graph them with appropriate labels and scales.

Graph a created equation in context

Problem

Graph \(C=4x+12\) on the displayed coordinate plane, where \(x\) is a whole-number item count and \(C\) is cost in dollars for \(0\le~x\le~20\). Show and explain the axes, intercept, rate, domain, and discrete representation.

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

The graph has to communicate both the linear rule and the item-count context. We’ll place items on the horizontal axis and cost on the vertical axis, use the fixed fee as the starting point and the per-item charge as the rise, then plot only whole-number inputs across the stated domain as separate points.
