Add, subtract, and multiply polynomials beyond quadratic cases.

Simplify a nested polynomial expression step by step

Problem

Simplify \(2(x^2~+~3x)~-~[x(x~-~4)~+~5]\).

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

The nesting determines the order: simplify each product inside its own grouping before dealing with the outside subtraction. We’ll expand both products, treat the bracket as one whole polynomial, reverse every sign in that bracket, and only then combine like powers. This order prevents the outer minus from being applied to just one term.
