Polynomial long division is a repeating leading-term process. Keep like powers aligned, divide the current leading term by the divisor’s leading term, multiply the entire divisor by that quotient term, and subtract every term in the row. Repeat until the remainder has lower degree than the divisor, then verify with dividend equals divisor times quotient plus remainder.
