In \(A~=~s^2\), isolate the nonnegative side length \(s\). State the real condition and explain the branch used.

Undo an even power with a square root only after recognizing its real-domain condition. Algebraically, a squared variable can produce two opposite branches, but the variable's meaning may narrow them. Because a side length is nonnegative, retain the principal branch and state the condition that makes the root real.
