Interpret complex polynomial/rational expressions by treating parts as single units.

Name and unit a meaningful contextual quotient

Problem

For \(C(x)~=~(500~+~8x)/x\), cost is in dollars and \(x\) is the number of items. Name the quotient, give its units, and state the contextual domain.

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

Name a contextual quotient by reading its units in order: the numerator tells the total being distributed, and the denominator tells what it is distributed across. Dividing total cost by an item count produces a cost per item. The formula may allow many nonzero inputs algebraically, but an actual item count is restricted to positive whole numbers.
