Graph exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions with key features.

Write a sinusoidal equation from maximum, minimum, period, and starting position

Problem

Write the sinusoidal equation with maximum \(7\), minimum \(1\), period \(4\), and a midline-rising start at \(x~=~0\).

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

Recover the sinusoid’s vertical parameters from the extrema: their average is the midline, and half their difference is the amplitude. Convert the stated period into the inside coefficient with the period formula. Finally use the starting position and direction to identify the appropriate unshifted sine or cosine pattern, then verify a full cycle at quarter-period intervals.
