Amplitude measures the distance from a sinusoid's centerline to either extreme, not the entire top-to-bottom span. Subtract the minimum from the maximum and halve that vertical distance. As a check, average the extremes to find the midline and confirm that each extreme lies the same nonnegative distance from it.
