Choose trig functions to model periodic phenomena using amplitude, frequency, and midline.

Find the period of a sinusoid from two matching graph features

Problem

What is the period of a sinusoid with these graph features: maxima at \(x=1\) and \(x=7\)?

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

One period is the horizontal distance between consecutive points in the same phase of a sinusoid. Two neighboring maxima are especially useful because each marks the same position in successive cycles. Subtract the earlier input coordinate from the later one, and confirm that the curve completes one full peak-to-peak pattern between them.
