Choose trig functions to model periodic phenomena using amplitude, frequency, and midline.
Find the frequency from the period of a periodic model
Problem
What is the frequency if the period is \(8~\text{seconds}\)?
Big Picture
What this problem is really about
Period and frequency describe reciprocal rates. Period tells how much input time one cycle takes, while frequency tells how many cycles occur per unit time. Invert the period value and invert its units as well; a result in cycles per second is a frequency, whereas seconds per cycle still describes a period.
