Apply density concepts based on area and volume in modeling situations.

Find an areal density or coverage rate from a total quantity and area

Problem

What is the coverage rate in square feet per gallon when \(2~\text{gallons}\) cover \(700~\text{square}~\text{feet}\)?

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

Use the requested units to orient the coverage ratio before calculating. An area-per-container rate places covered area in the numerator and the amount of material in the denominator, so division reduces the situation to one container unit. Interpret the quotient in that same order; its reciprocal would answer a different question about material used per square unit.
