What Gozunta collects—and why.

This policy describes how gozunta.com, the signed-in web app, and the Gozunta iPhone and iPad app handle information.

Scope and contact

Gozunta is an independent math-practice service provided by Rodney Johnson. Questions about this policy, account information, or deletion can be sent to support@gozunta.com or through Gozunta Support.

02

Information we collect

Account, profile, and security information

We store the information needed to create and protect an account: username, primary email, optional recovery email, password hash, email-verification status, and acceptance of the current terms. If you provide them, we also store a public username, city, and public-profile preference.

If you enable authenticator protection, we store an encrypted authenticator secret, one-time recovery-code digests, and timestamps used to prevent code reuse. We never store your password or recovery codes in readable form.

Family learner account information

For eligible family plans, we store the purchaser-to-family-learner relationship, the two fixed additional seat positions, current and previous seat assignments, family learner display names and usernames, assignment and removal dates, annual benefit periods, whether a reassignment allowance was used, and which purchaser ended an assignment. The purchaser’s account is also a learner account, and the two other family learner accounts do not require their own email addresses. Each learner can view only their own progress and sessions. The purchaser can reset or remove the two other family learner accounts but cannot view their progress.

Learning and session information

We store course and study preferences, selected objectives and problem variants, learning sessions, session lineage and share codes, answers and attempts, completion state, retries, progress and mastery, search history, scratchpad content, review history, notification preferences, and reminder schedules. Problem snapshots are retained with sessions so a saved or shared session continues to contain the problem set it was created with.

When you use “Find a problem similar to this,” the uploaded image is used only long enough to transcribe the math and is then discarded. We do not retain the uploaded image. We may retain the sanitized transcription, non-image fingerprints, curriculum candidates, selected match, and your match feedback so repeated submissions can be matched more efficiently and gaps in the curriculum can be identified.

Purchases, access, and invitations

For web purchases, we store the selected plan, price, currency, course scope, customer email, checkout and subscription identifiers, billing status, access dates, and related request information such as IP address and user agent. Stripe processes web payments; Gozunta does not receive complete card numbers.

For App Store purchases, we store Apple product and transaction identifiers, the Gozunta account token used to connect a purchase to an account, signed transaction evidence, purchase and expiration dates, and revocation status. Apple processes the payment. We may also store trial invitations, complimentary-access records, and the status of those offers.

Website use and first-party analytics

On tracked public pages and free-practice pages, we create a first-party visitor identifier and record page paths, referring domain, campaign tags, assigned marketing presentation, device category, browser and operating-system family, and approximate country, region, or city when available. Free-practice records may include the problem shown, answer-choice identity, correctness, active time, hint and walkthrough use, and whether the visitor continued.

An IP address may be used momentarily to look up approximate location. The conversion-analytics records store the resulting approximate location, not that lookup IP. IP addresses may still appear in ordinary server/security logs or purchase records.

Messages and support

We process email addresses and message-delivery status to send verification, password-reset, account-security, purchase, trial, and service emails. If you contact support, we use the information in your message to respond and investigate.

03

Cookies and local technology

Gozunta uses first-party cookies and session storage needed to operate the service:

  • a secure session cookie for sign-in, session state, and CSRF protection;
  • a first-party conversion visitor cookie, normally lasting up to one year, for visit continuity and marketing measurement; and
  • an account-evidence cookie, normally lasting up to 400 days, so returning account holders can be routed to the appropriate sign-in experience.

These cookies are not third-party advertising cookies. Blocking required cookies may prevent account, checkout, or study features from working correctly.

04

How we use information

  • create, authenticate, recover, and secure accounts;
  • save sessions, answers, progress, history, study settings, and reminder preferences;
  • generate printable PDFs and provide session sharing and redo workflows;
  • transcribe submitted problem images, find similar Gozunta curriculum problems, reuse prior matches, and identify curriculum gaps;
  • process purchases, validate entitlements, restore access, and manage renewals or expirations;
  • provide family learner seats, enforce reassignment limits, and keep each learner’s progress private to that learner’s account;
  • send transactional and security communications;
  • operate, troubleshoot, protect, and improve the service; and
  • measure which first-party marketing presentations and free-practice paths lead to meaningful use.
05

Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information and do not use Gozunta information for cross-company behavioral advertising.

Information is processed by providers needed to run Gozunta, including website hosting and infrastructure, transactional email, Stripe for web billing, and Apple for App Store billing and device notification services. Approximate-location lookup uses the locally maintained DB-IP database. Providers process information under their own terms and privacy obligations.

When similar-problem search is enabled, OpenAI processes the uploaded image to produce a structured math transcription and rank a constrained set of Gozunta curriculum candidates. Gozunta requests no API response storage. The request does not include the learner’s account name, email address, user ID, or another stable learner identifier.

Every learning session has a short share code. A person who receives that code can copy the session’s problem set and study configuration into their own account. Do not share a session code unless you intend another person to use it. The recipient does not receive your password or payment details.

We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, security problems, misuse, or threats to Gozunta or its users.

06

Your choices

  • Update your primary email, recovery email, public username, city, and public-profile preference in Settings.
  • Enable or disable authenticator protection and replace recovery codes.
  • Change or disable reminder preferences in Gozunta and notification permission in iOS Settings.
  • Delete learning progress separately without deleting the account.
  • Manage web subscriptions through Gozunta billing controls and App Store subscriptions through Apple.
  • Purchasers can create, reset, remove, and reassign the two other eligible family learner accounts, but cannot view those learners’ progress. Every learner can view and delete their own learning progress.
  • Request help accessing, correcting, or deleting account information by contacting support.
07

Retention and deletion

Account and learning information is retained while the account exists and as needed to provide the service. First-party conversion visitor records and their related visits, events, and free-problem activity are purged after approximately 400 days without activity.

Removing a learner from a family seat does not delete the learner’s account or progress. It ends inherited paid access and preserves the seat-assignment history needed to enforce the annual reassignment limit. If a former learner later deletes their account, the historical assignment retains the username and display-name snapshots associated with that assignment while its direct account relationship is cleared.

You can permanently delete an eligible account from Settings. Accounts with active paid access must first stop or resolve that access so billing and entitlements remain coordinated. Account deletion removes the account and user-owned study, security, and App Store entitlement records from the active account database.

Some records are not deleted at the same time: web purchase records, payment-provider event identifiers, security or delivery logs, and conversion records may be retained for financial, fraud-prevention, operational, or legal reasons. Where those records reference the deleted account through a removable relationship, that relationship is cleared. Deleting a Gozunta account does not itself cancel a Stripe or App Store subscription.

08

Security, children, and policy changes

We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, CSRF protection, optional authenticator-based two-step verification, encrypted authenticator secrets, digested recovery codes, signed purchase validation, and access controls. No service can guarantee absolute security.

Gozunta is a study service, not a school roster or classroom administration system. A purchaser who creates another family learner account controls that account’s recovery and removal but cannot monitor its progress. A parent or guardian should supervise account creation and purchases when required by applicable law. Contact us if you believe a child provided information without required permission.

We may revise this policy as Gozunta changes. We will update the date at the top when we do.
