Multiply and divide fractions and mixed numbers and interpret the result in context.
Divide by a fraction using the reciprocal
Problem
Calculate \(2/3~\div~4/5\) and express the result as a simplified fraction or mixed number.
Big Picture
What this problem is really about
To divide by a fraction, we keep the dividend and multiply by the reciprocal of the divisor. We’ll invert only four fifths, multiply the resulting fractions, and reduce the quotient to lowest terms. Multiplying that quotient by the original divisor should return two thirds, providing a direct check on which fraction was flipped.
