Problem
A bag of almonds costs \(\$7.50\) for \(2.5~\text{pounds}\). What is the cost per \(1~\text{pound}\)?

What this problem is really about
Dollars per pound means total cost divided by total pounds, even though both values contain decimals. We’ll set up that quotient, multiply dividend and divisor by the same power of ten to clear decimals, and divide. Multiplying the unit cost by two point five pounds should return the original price.
