Problem
A paint mix uses a ratio of \(3:5\) red to blue. Multiply \(\text{both}~\text{parts}\) of the ratio by \(4\). What is the new equivalent ratio?

What this problem is really about
An equivalent paint ratio must preserve both the red-to-blue order and the multiplicative relationship between its terms. We’ll apply the given scale factor to the red amount and the blue amount separately, then write the two products in their original positions. Dividing both new terms by that factor should reconstruct the starting ratio.
