Generate and justify equivalent ratios using scaling, tables, and diagrams.
Scale a contextual ratio
Problem
Scale the \(\text{concentrate}:\text{water}\) ratio \(2:5\) to \(6~\text{cups}\) of concentrate.
Big Picture
What this problem is really about
The mixture must keep concentrate first, water second, and preserve the same flavor as the two-to-five recipe. We’ll compare the target concentrate amount with the original concentrate amount to find the scale factor, then multiply the water amount by that same factor. Scaling the new pair back down should recover the starting recipe.
