Problem

Use a ratio table to solve this problem: If \(4~\text{notebooks}\) cost \(\$6\), how much do \(10~\text{notebooks}\) cost?

What this problem is really about

The given and target columns must represent the same notebook-to-cost relationship, even though ten is not a whole-number multiple of four. We’ll create a convenient intermediate pair by halving both given quantities, then multiply that entire pair to reach ten notebooks. A unit-cost calculation will check the target cost without using additive scaling.
