Find and interpret the constant of proportionality in multiple representations.

Compare constants across contexts

Problem

Calculate \(\text{both}~\text{jobs}'~\text{constants}~\text{of}~\text{proportionality}\) in dollars per hour and compare them.

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

The total payments cover different amounts of time, so comparing thirty-six with fifty would not compare the same quantity. We’ll find each job’s constant by dividing dollars earned by hours worked, label both results in dollars per hour, and compare those unit rates. Multiplying each rate back by its hours will check the original pay.
