Problem
Use the benchmark \(12.5\%~=~1/8\) to find \(12.5\%\) of a \(\$64\) jacket.
Big Picture
What this problem is really about
The benchmark turns an awkward-looking decimal percent into a friendly fraction. Since twelve and a half percent is one eighth, the requested part of the jacket price can be found by dividing the whole price into eight equal shares. Multiply that share back by eight to check that it reconstructs the full price.
