Problem

Write the distance between \(-4\) and \(3\) using \(3~-~(-4)\) inside absolute value bars, and evaluate the expression.

Use both endpoints in the prescribed order and place their difference inside absolute-value bars. Because the second endpoint is negative, simplify the subtraction carefully as addition of its opposite. The bars guarantee that the evaluated result represents a nonnegative number-line distance, and counting through zero offers a direct check.
