Plot, read, and interpret points in all four quadrants on the coordinate plane.

Compare contextual points on a grid

Problem

On a city map, the Library is at \((-4,~2)\) and the Museum at \((3,~2)\). Compare their \(x\)-coordinates and identify the place farther east.

Big Picture

What this problem is really about

East-west position depends only on the x-coordinate, the first number in each ordered pair. Compare those signed horizontal values: the greater x-value lies farther right, or farther east. The equal y-values merely show that the locations share a horizontal line and do not settle the east-west comparison.
