Solve multi-step linear equations, including equations requiring simplification first.
Write and solve a multi-step equation from a representation
Problem
A level hanger has \(2~\text{separately}~\text{grouped}~\text{sets}\) on the left, each containing \(\text{one}~x\text{-}\text{tile}\) and \(\text{one}~\text{unit}~\text{weight}\), balanced by \(14~\text{unit}~\text{weights}\) on the right. Write the represented grouped equation and solve for \(x\).
Each dashed outline marks one complete group containing an x-tile and one unit tile. Because the hanger shows two identical groups, the entire grouped quantity repeats twice and balances fourteen units. Split the total equally between the groups, then remove the known unit from one group to isolate x.
