Read values, trends, and meaning from tables and coordinate graphs.

Check which statements are supported by a display

Problem

A hiker-elevation graph has time in hours on the \(x\text{-}\text{axis}\) and elevation in feet on the \(y\text{-}\text{axis}\), with connected points \((0,~400)\), \((1,~550)\), \((2,~700)\), \((3,~650)\), and \((4,~500)\). Test every statement below against the graph and report the complete set of supported statement numbers.

1. The hiker is at \(700~\text{feet}\) at hour \(2\).
2. The hiker's elevation increases during the entire walk.
3. The point \((3,~650)\) is on the graph.
4. From hour \(2\) to hour \(4\), the elevation decreases by \(200~\text{feet}\).
5. The hiker returns to the starting elevation by hour \(4\).
