Interpret rate of change informally as how much one quantity changes for each change in another.
Model a context with a table and read the rate
Problem
A babysitter earns \(\$12~\text{per}~\text{hour}\). Generate the complete ordered-pair table \((\text{hours},~\text{earnings})\) for hours \(1~\text{through}~4\) and state the signed unit rate.
Big Picture
What this problem is really about
Treat the hourly wage as a constant rate multiplying the number of hours. Evaluate that relationship for each requested hour, keep hours first and earnings second in every pair, and compare adjacent rows to confirm the signed unit rate. The table and rate should describe the same positive increase rather than merely share one dollar value.
