Problem
A triangle has base \(12~\text{cm}\) and height \(9~\text{cm}\), and a rectangle is \(10~\text{cm}\) by \(5~\text{cm}\). Calculate \(\text{both}~\text{areas}\), and compare them.

What this problem is really about
Put both figures into the same comparable form by calculating complete areas in square centimeters. The triangle needs one-half of base times perpendicular height, while the rectangle uses length times width. Once both formulas have been evaluated with their own dimensions, compare the resulting areas and use their difference to check the conclusion.
