Read the structure of the diagram first
Problem
\(\text{Two}~\text{lines}\) intersect at \(P\). The adjacent upper-left and upper-right angles form a straight line. The upper-left angle is \(118°\) and the upper-right angle is \(x\). Calculate \(x\), and name the angle relationship.
Read the rays before using the labels: the two angles share a side, while their nonshared sides point in opposite directions along one line. That structure makes an adjacent straight-line pair, so their measures must complete a straight angle. Subtract the known part from that total and use the sum to verify both the measure and the named relationship.
