Problem

A fair number cube has faces \(1~\text{through}~6\). Calculate the theoretical probability of rolling a number greater than \(4\) as a fraction.

Theoretical probability starts with the complete set of equally likely faces on the fair number cube. Count how many faces satisfy the strict condition greater than four, place that count over the total number of faces, and simplify. Listing the sample space first prevents four itself or the complementary outcomes from entering the favorable count.
