Problem

A blue-spinner event has theoretical probability \(1/4\). Maya observed \(6\) blue results in \(20~\text{spins}\); Eli observed \(10\) in \(30\). Calculate \(\text{both}~\text{experimental}~\text{rates}\) and their differences from theory, then identify the closer experiment.

What this problem is really about

Put theory and both experiments into the same unit, such as percent. For each student, divide blue results by total spins, then find the absolute percentage-point distance from the theoretical rate. The smaller distance identifies the closer experiment; raw blue counts cannot do that fairly because the trial totals differ.
