Break a composite figure into easier pieces

Problem

A composite figure is made from a rectangle and a trapezoid that share \(\text{one}~\text{full}~\text{side}\). The rectangle is \(8.5~m\) long and \(3~m\) wide. Attached directly above it is a trapezoid whose bottom base matches the rectangle’s \(8.5~m\) top side. The trapezoid has height \(4~m\) and top base \(5.5~m\). Find the total area of the figure in square meters.
