Compare, order, and estimate whole numbers and decimals using place value and magnitude sense.

Interpret a number line for magnitude

Problem

Look at the number line from \(34\) to \(36\). Between each whole number, it is divided into \(10\) equal parts, so each small tick mark represents \(0.1\). Point \(X\) is on the third small tick after \(34\), point \(Y\) is on the ninth small tick after \(34\), and point \(Z\) is on the fourth small tick after \(35\). Read the point values and determine the point and value closest to \(35\).
